The systems must be put in place according to a specific method to ensure that they will be activated in case of accidents and let out enough rainwater. The following Youtube video explains how to measure fire sprinkler systems in order protect structures. The video will provide more information.
It is crucial to determine the density based on an area/density curve that is part of the NFPA13 standard that governs sprinkler system installation. The density of 0.20gpm/ft2 is suggested for an area that is 1,500 feet2. The curves for groups 2 and up are calculated using hydraulic calculations for fire sprinklers.
Once you have that, you’ll need the number of nodes within the design area. They should start at the highest point upstream to the bottom of the riser for fire. The sprinkler orifice can be set at the value k = 8.0. After that, you can determine the size the sprinkler will cover in your design. In this case, it is 129.87ft2. This can be multiplied by multiplying the area by the density found earlier. With these numbers, you’ll find how much water is discharged from the first sprinkler.
